Anabolic steroids and their effects

In the news and sports headlines, you would have listened to the word use of steroids many times as athletes and bodybuilders use them illegally to get wonderful muscle gains and strength within a short time. Many professional bodybuilder’s athletes and even Hollywood celebrities have been subjected to humiliation over the last two decades after it was revealed that they used steroids to transform their body not to gain more strength. Anabolic steroids are the type of steroids that refer to hormones. These anabolic steroids can be taken either in oral form or in injection form. Usage of this anabolic steroids influences the body’s hormonal system so as to produce extra testosterone. However, there are different steroid rules for different countries. In many countries, steroids are banned. There is list of illegal steroids that are considered as illegal to purchase without a prescription from a health provider.

In the USA, you can purchase steroids only by having the prescription and it is the only way to get steroids you need in the USA, it holds true even in countries such as Australia, Canada, Argentina, Portugal, and Brazil. Though in all these six countries all need a prescription to buy the anabolic steroids legally, by far the USA is the strictest country. In Canada, it is considered illegal to sell and also to buy anabolic steroids, but suppose, if you are caught in possession of steroid, there is no serious infraction at hand. Conversely, in the U.S.A. mere possession is a direct violation of the Steroids Control Act.

Most of the sports people take anabolic steroids to increase muscle mass. You can find some legal compounds that mimic the action of this list of illegal steroids. Majorly two types of steroids are present within the body. One is Corticosteroids which is produced in the adrenal gland that is located above the kidney. These hormones generally include aldosterone (that helps to regulate sodium concentration in the body) and cortisol (that plays several roles in the body, including serving as part of the body’s stress response system that decreases inflammation).  Apart from this, anabolic/androgenic steroids are the second type of steroids. They are also known as androgenic steroids. These are the hormones that are made in the body to regulate the manufacture of testosterone hormone in the testicles and ovaries. The androgenic part of this testosterone hormone is mainly used for developing the male sex characteristics, while the anabolic part of it is involved in body tissues increase that is increased by protein production. The pituitary gland present at the start of the human brain helps to regulate the production of testosterone and also for hormone secretion.

Although usage of anabolic steroids provides many benefits when taken in correct dosage under medical supervision, they even have many serious side effects that worsen health conditions of the user. These severe and irreversible side effects are mainly due to abnormally high levels of testosterone in the body. These side effects include an increase in cholesterol level, high blood pressure, acne, liver damage, kidney problems, heart failure, oily skin, restlessness, mood swings, baldness, aggressiveness, violent behavior, vomiting, and headache. So steroids are considered very dangerous to those not under the constant supervision of a health provider and who will not follow the exact dosage of steroid.
